We are going to start this week off with some poetry. I wrote the original draft of this poem almost 13 years ago to the day. I have always been very fond of this piece; but, I always felt like something was missing in it. I pulled it out, dusted it off, and tried to clean it up a bit.
Enjoy!
Ode to a Lady Bug
Your shell is so delicately round and smooth
with a luscious red base coat
and miniature black accents.
Your tiny head protrudes
from your battle armor,
with white specks for eyes and
wafer thin antennae.
The ravenous aphid,
whose only goal is the destruction of my crop,
is no match for your deadly beauty.
You are the protector of my crop,
and the bringer of luck.
